The day before I could ask for a default judgement they have acknowledged the claim so they now have a further 14 days.
I've also noticed that my current account in online banking is showing recent withdrawals & payments out but none of my recent payments in & is therefore showing me as over £1900 overdrawn. I suspect this is a cynical attempt to make me panic.
Has anyone else encountered something similar?

The first thing I was told when I sought advice on my debt was ... "DITCH BARCLAYS"!
Not only do they charge you 11.50 a month for the privelege of having an account with them, they also charge you an extortionate overdraft rate - in my last month with them they charged me 11.50 account fee, three lots of paid referrals (totalling £90) even though I had money going into the account on subsequent days. And they wondered why I was going over my overdraft so much!!!
So....IVA in progess, barclays ditched - yippee!
There are so many other banks and building societies that offer a friendlier service!Proud to be dealing with my debts!

I think this is how they make their money. I wouldn't mind quite so much if they were an approachable bank but each time I have spoken to one of their "Financial Advisors" I have been told there is nothing they can do to help me. I asked for copies of statements too - they said they would send them straight-away. I was amazed when they turned up a couple of days later...and then not so amazed to find they had charged me £5 for the priveledge!Proud to be dealing with my debts!

You should leave 4 days between being paid and DD's going out to be safe as many banks check you have the money for them before the date they go out.

If you were being charged that sort of money on a monthly basis you had a premium type account. You could have downgraded it to save money, although you usually have to be pretty forcefull when requesting this as they try to put you off.

If you are talking about salary payments going in and not showing up then you should check pretty quickly that they have actually gone in. If you are talking about payments by yourself like cheques or cash and you have a claim against the bank then they may have your account being overseen by a manager, who is quite possibly holding them up to be annoying. If I was you I would complain that your credits are not showing up in a timely manner. Its not worth anything financially but it will let them know you are not letting anything hold back your claim.

I set up a "Parachute Account" with Smile the day I started my claim against Barclays & get my salary paid into that now but have to transfer money across to the Barclays account for the stragglers who haven't processed my DD change to the new account yet. The recent transactions "mini statement" at the cash machine is showing everything correctly but the online banking isn't. I have the counter credit slips for the manual payments as well so I can only assume its a pathetic attempt at an intimidation tactic.0 -

Oh I'll definitely keeping going - I've already been there, done it & bought the t-shirt with Yorkshire Bank & got my money. The only guaranteed way of making me do something is to try & intimidate me into not doing it.
I was just wondering if they'd tried it on anyone else because I hadn't read it on the Barclays forum at the Consumer Action Group.0 -
Cancel the DD's set up at barclays then you won't need to move money about. More important is not to back down, Barclays paid out on all the claims I've made (although they did treat me like dirt).Barclaycard 3800

Next months payments will all come out of the new account there were just a couple of companies that didn't process this payment in time & it came out of the Barclays account. What point did they finally pay out in your claims? I'm fully expecting to see them allow a default judgement then apply for a set aside before this is done with & I get my money.0 -
Barclays only charge for the kind of account called 'Additions'. It's perfectly possible to change that to a 'Barclays Bank Account' (BBA) for which there is no charge. This account doesn't come with all the privledges though, which is what you're paying for, not the account, per say.
Also, funds should be in an account the working day before a DD is due to leave an account. If they're coming out the same day you get paid, you should change the day the DDs come out.
It's easy to blame the bank for these kind of misunderstandings but I believe the information is actually in the terms and conditions that you will have signed.0
