Barclay loan paid off but...

I took out a loan for £1000 with Barclays, I knew I had some money coming in soon and I could pay it off but I needed the cash quick so hence the loan.

Any way I got the money as expected and contacted Barclays to pay off the loan, the girl on the other end did all the necessary and then started to try and sell me car insurance, I told her I already had it and wasn't interested, she kept on and on and then tried other insurance like Home and contents etc.
I again refused and eventually she went, then a few weeks later I noticed my online statement I had some money taken out for the loan, I phoned them back and explained I had paid it off and luckily I got the name of the girl who dealt with me.
After a bit of them investigating it appeared she hadn't pressed the right key on her keyboard and she had left the account open and not canceled it.
She was that busy trying to sell me insurance she forgot, I got the money they had taken refunded and a letter of apology which was fair enough.
But my point is when ever doing anything like this make sure you get the name of the person who you are dealing with, write it down along with the time and date, you never know.

You did well, but in addition, the best way, is to say you want it confirmed in writing, if you haven't receive it within a few days, get back onto them.

Any problems you can simply send/fax/email them a copy of the letter.

I prefer online access to my agreements, then you can see the payment has reached the account also.

Too many people rely on telephone conversations and yes in a perfect world that should be all it takes, but we all know things definately go wrong.

    Congrats on getting things sorted.
