treadmill advice ? wanna get one

hi me and the mrs bigblackdog , have decided this year to buy ourselves a treadmill for christmas .
any reccomendations or advice greatfully recieved ...
best place to buy one? , should we get one after xmas in the sales ?
kinda thinking NordickTrac may be the best option as is reccomended by runners world magazine , lots of different ones on Ebay , bit of a dillemma , ideally want to pay around £400-500,
are we wasting our cash on one that cheap as some are a lot more expensive , thanks

I bought one and within a week I was down the hospital and in terrible pain with a hamstring injury and that lasted about 10 weeks, so I no longer have it Lol. What did I do wrong ? I didn't warm up first so my advice if you do get one make sure you have a good warm up first.

Things to look for on a treadmill

you want the deck to be as wide as possible and as long as possible, this is the first place they save money on

the motor, the more powerful the less stressed it will be in use the longer it should last, a good guide is the max user weight the higher the weight it can take the generally the better the motor

do you want it to fold?

for me a critical part of a treadmill is strong arm rails that can take your weight so you can jump on and off whilst the treadmill is going to optimise interval training

something else that I think is important is having a deck with a good impact absorption as this helps protect joints

not related but that seller has been a member since 2003 , and has only done 3 transactions , must be a record

i think it may be handy for the treadmill to fold , for transportation purposes , the space we have in mind for it , is big enough so we wouldn't strictly require a folding version , is there a big difference in price or reliability do you think?
