Unsigned cheque as present what to do

Someone gave us a cheque as a gift but forgot to sign it. I have asked around but no joy. What should I do? I have thought about posting it to their bank (Nationwide) but not sure if that is right. It is also impossible to thank them for their gift (albeit unsigned) so did not want to just bin it. I am writing a cover letter to send to their bank but wanted to check if that is what I should so. thanks

Send it back to who ever gave it to you with a little note asking them to sign it, when you get it back send a thank you note.

If they had of signed it in the first place who would you have sent a thank you note to?

  • I'm a little confused - can you just clarify whether it is A) you know who the cheque is from but are unable to contact them, or B) you don't know who the cheque is from because for whatever reason there is no printed name (or you don't recognise the name) at the bottom of the cheque.

So it's nobody you invited to your wedding and nobody who was a guest knows of them?

    How strange!

It's not for a large amount of money is it and it's someone taking the Michael?

I had over 200 guests so difficult to trace anyone not in family or close friends. May have been a friend of a friend of a friend lol. It is for £30. Will send it back to Nationwide to fed to the guest.
