When we support sin in our laws, rules and government, then we will suffer the results of what sin brings, destruction!

From a scholarly point of view I know more than many about the Bible. I know that parts of it have been altered, badly translated and subjected to the whims of law makers over the years. It is also full of contradictions. Before you get too carried away about sex and who you can do it with there are numerous references to concubines in the Bible and you would be surprised at who had them!

Marriage is about commitment and responsibility. If you're prepared to accept these, then I feel Society in the form of the State should acknowledge your commitment to each other and your children. If you don't want commitment and prefer just to live together, that is your choice. But don't expect to have your cake and eat it. We all have to accept responsibility, sooner or later, for our actions and our decisions.

If two people live together for 40 years, why should they have less rights than someone married for 1 day?

Plenty of married couples fail to write a will. If people (whether married or not) made a will, it would ensure that their wishes were followed and would prevent the mess left behind for their family and friends to deal with.

To get back to the question 'Should marriage be taken out of the finance system?...............my answer is no.

When you marry you legally ensure your rights. By not marrying you take a chance that any rights may be upheld on the whim of a third party. I think that if you split up after living together a woman cannot claim anything for herself only any children. I could care less from the moral side of things but the legal issues would concern me although I am married so they only interest me from afar.

Exactly thats what the captains asking, and my opinion is everybody SHOULD be afforded the same rights...well except for gingers of course :)
  • So how about those that do not want to shell out anything? Why should they? On whose say so?

I dont understand shellout on what?
  • Well if you were living together decided to seperate and did not want to part with a share of the property, your salary, your pension etc. Lots of people decide to live together for just those reasons, i.e. clean break, no strings.
