HELP! Laptop won't boot!!

I've tried on numerous occasions to try to re-boot my laptop, but each time with limited success!!
I am able to access the windows advanced option menu, with the various options of SAFE modes and last good configuration, but, whichever option I select, the computer will not pass the initial windows loading screen.
PLEASE help!! I've recently bought a new desktop, and just want to save all of the photos and other documents from the laptop, to transfer them to the new machine!!:(

My mate had a similar problem with his Dell desktop. It always seemed to freeze on the Windows log on screen. It may boot 1 in 30 times! I ended up re-installing Windows & it worked fine from then on.
Do you have a copy of windows on disk with your laptop or maybe a rescue/utlilities disk?0 -
If you've got a Windows CD, try using the recovery option on it.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Phew!!
Thanks MyUserNamesTaken and tightbarsteward for you advice, it's up and running again, albeit at a snails pace, but I'll hopefully get the photos off it before it crashes again!!
Thanks again!:jDFW'ers photography comp member no. 60
