Ebay 10p listing day 19 October

What’s the deal?

This Thursday 19 October, eBay* is having a 10p Listing Day.

What’s included?

The offer is valid on three types of listings: Auction-style, Buy-it-now and Auction-style with a buy-it-now option. Though remember regular Buy-it-now auctions don’t count.

How much will I pay?

While the “basic insertion fee” is 10p, remember you’ll still have to pay a full “final value fee” based on the closing price of your auction. So for example, if your item sells for £28 you’ll pay a 10p insertion fee plus a £1.47 closing fee.

How to make the biggest savings.

The trick with this offer's to list big items with a high starting price. For instance, with items with starting at 99p the insertion fee is only 15p anyway, so the saving’s only 5p. Yet for items starting over £100 the fee’s £2 – a much bigger saving, especially if you list a few things.

* Using these links helps the site stay ad-free and free to use, as they’re ‘affiliated links’ which invisibly take you via commercial price comparison services like Moneysupermarket or Find, which then pay this site per click

You shouldn’t notice any difference, the links don’t impact the product at all and the editorial line (the things I write) is NEVER impacted by the revenue. If it isn’t possible to get an affiliate link for the best product, it is still recommended and still included. For the sake of transparency go to https://www.ebay.co.uk for an unaffiliated link. Just reading the t&c on ebay....

Only the basic eBay Insertion Fee will be reduced to 10 pence. All other eBay selling fees will still apply, including but not limited to Final Value Fees, optional Reserve Price Fees and all Listing Upgrade Fees such as "Gallery", "Subtitle", "Bold" or "Highlight".

Worth noting cos I think in the past it has included the gallery fees etc, 10p is not much of a reduction on 15p normal insertion fee for up to 99p starting price!

If you want to list things with a higher starting price though, its not a bad offer. I really like the gallery feature though, that's a lot at 15p I think so was hoping it was included :(

  • It's more than 5p off if you've got higher value items ;) - I agree it's mean of them, but it's our DUTY to use the day to cost them as much money as possible, isn't it?

PS Anyone who is trying to make £1 to take part in Emily's £1024 challenge, this is your big chance as you can list a starting price of £1.10 (to cover your 10p insertion fee :p) rather than the usual 99p
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • The risk with this is though is that a lot of similar listings go up on the same day, meaning that the same number of buyers have more sellers to choose amongst and thus goods get lowballed.

I always avoid selling on 10p listing days for this reason - they can potentially cost a lot more than what they appear to save. Buying on them is another matter...

  • I would just add that in addition to listing only your more expensive items, make sure you choose the ten day listing, so it ends a week on sunday, and get it to end between 6 and 10pm -prime selling time - to maximise your sale.
(Also that particular sunday is the end of the month, generally everyone has been paid and have more to spend and treat themselves - we are always busier in the shop where I work on these weekends, so cash in :) )

Not the best offer by ebay though...prefer the 5p listings..helps to get rid of the really small clutter!
