My advisor put me on a computer course as above?
Ive been enrolled etc but dont think its for me and i cant get excited about logging on and doing it?
Do i have to do it? Is anyone else doing it and what do you think and how easy is it to remember it all if you dont use it?

As a FND adviser I would imagine that yes, you do have to do it but if you have any problems then speak to learn direct or your adviser. The World come on.....0

You obviously have a computer, why can't you keep these new skills up when you've learnt them?0 -
Yes you have to do it otherwise if you refuse you will lose benefits for not doing what they ask to seek work in the future.
The only way to get out of doing it is to go bang on lots and lots of shop doors tomorrow and ask if any of them have some xmas jobs going...... then you wont have to claim as many benefits and they wont then ask you to go on stupid computer courses.
But until you do that, you will still have to do as your told unless you dont want to receive any more benefits!0 -
It's better than being forced to do a Work Placement for 13 Weeks, working 30 hours a week for your giro.
You're lucky, I'm assuming you are aged 18-24. If older you only get to do Work Placements through the New Deal.0 -

Hi, Learn Direct are pretty good. I enrolled with them to do a Food Hygiene Course, (I got this free whilst within the first 13 weeks of JSA)
Before I started the Food Hygiene, I did a Literacy and Numeracy course, it appeared I was better at numeracy than literacy, so I was given further training in literacy.
I went onto pass the exam at the end, which was quite a nice feeling
Hope you enjoy it.0 -
Problem is Linda is that the qualifications have very little merit to them with employers or education bodies like universities.
I know someone that went on the course for numeracy and literacy and then took advanced courses in them..... at the advice of a career advisor at the job centre who said that advanced learn direct courses are the equivalent of an A Level.
Problem was that trying to apply for any course with an education body and they disregarded them straight away and expected that person to go and resit proper GCSE's instead making the piece of paper a waste of time!0
