Avon/Mail Order Default

Hi guys, hope I'm posting this in the right place. About 2.5 years ago I started working as an Avon rep, but it didn't work out. I though I'd paid the last bill (£104) but must have forgotten to do it. Anyhow, it was passed to a DCA, and when they contacted me I paid it off in full straight away.
It's now showing as a satisfied default on my credit file but I'm hoping to have it removed, as I never received any correspondence from Avon at all, no notice they intended to put my account as a default, or anything.
Are there any template letters for this? I've had a look on the site but can't find anything. A quick search online has brought up some but they all seem to be for defaults issued by banks and/or credit card companies.
The default was issued by Avon rather than the DCA.

You'll have very little chance of having that removed, the default will probably have been entered before the debt was passed to the collections agency.
Unless you moved and didn't tell Avon (ding dong) then you must've had some notice of the debt before it defaulted.....maybe you just thought it was more Avon guff and threw it?
Defaults are very rarely removed unless they were clearly entered in error."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Arghhhhh Avon!!!
I had a similar problem with them as I stopped working for them and then one day my old team leader called to say do i want a charity pin badge, I said yes and also ordered another item she said would have to pay on invoice when goods came, i was surprised my accoutn was still open. The goods never came I forgot about it to be honest and next thing i know i get a letter off them saying ive got a late payment charge, called them straight away (to india or where ever the call centre is) explained the situation and they said they would remove the charge and credit the items I asked for my account to be shut. The end of that I thought until I applied for a mortgage and something came up on my credit check and avon had put a default against me, I was so angry called them again and told them it was their error and he was asking me to send all sorts of proof didnt have as didnt work for them any longer.
Anyway after a little bit of searching found a UK number for avon spoke to a lovely lady in accounts (from the UK) who removed the mark off my credit rating within 48 hours, it seems Avon especially are very quick to put stuff on your credit rating as confirmed by a guy at experian that told me that.
Im not saying will work for you but try finding the UK number and give them a call, I know a lot of people say to do everything by letter but im telling you of my personal experience.
It was so annoying as I got turned down for the mortgage over an amount of £9!!!! :rotfl:Puppy Chick wants to be mortgage free by 50! (19 years to go!)Mortgage Sept 2010- £139,618.94 O/payments to date £0 -- WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!0 -

No I've been at the same address for all the time I worked for them, and no I did not throw away any mail from them, I keep and open everything.
Puppychick79 - You don't happen to have that number for the UK accounts do you? I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage in the next year and really don't want this screwing up my chances. It's good to know that someone else has had it overturned!0 -
They have done the same to me, i am so fed up, i am writing all the details of all your complaints in my complaint, think i am goingto complain to the FSO0

Complaining to the FSO won't get your default removed if it was recorded factually.0
