capquest letter

I recently wrote to all my creditors with an offer of full and final payment, for about half of the money. Cap quest, wrote to me asking me to contact them urgently with regards to my account or there may be more charges added. What do I do? do I call them? ro respond in writing? There was no mention of my offer....

    Hi
How recently did you write? have you kept up with your payments in the meantime (whatever you had agreed with them or were paying)?
Did your letter include a deadline for them to accept the offer?

Have you previously asked them to only contact you in writing? If so then I would either ignore the letter or write to them to ask them to continue to keep all communciation and write to you on whatever matter they wish to discuss.

  • Hi there I posted them last week and have kept all payments up to date. I have asked for all correspondence to be in writing so will write back to them tomorrow stating this. I included that it was a time limited offer in my letter yes. Thankyou for your response

They can't whack on charges. They're just trying to prompt you to contact them by telephone - not something you should fall for.

Its up to them to prove that you owe the debt, not for you to prove you don't. Unless they have a CCJ there will be no bailiffs, its just one of their tricks to scare and bully you into paying. When you paid the £507 was that the full amount that you owed to CAS? Capquest are well known around these parts for dodgy dealings and trying to collect on settled debts so send your letter asking for proof and wait until they come back to you.
Next time they call you answer the phone, tell them you are disputing the debt, have written them a letter and tell them not to phone you again. If they continue to phone there is a letter you can send and procedures to follow for harassment.
