Draught proofing and sealing a garage door

Hi,

I have an internal garage and alll the heat is escaping through the roller door and the cold is coming in, can feel strong draughts on the sides, top and bottom of door. Does anyone know anyone who draught proofs garage doors or installs seals for around them?

As winter setting in want to get it sorted asap as the house becomes cold very quickly even with oil on? Thanks

This might sound like a stupid question but why do you have heat in your garage?

  • Going to resurrect this thread as I am looking to insulate our garage door.
We have a single internal garage. It has two wooden doors that hinge outwards - one to each side.
There is a gap under the door and also between the door (near the bottom).
What would be the best and cheapest way of insulating it?
I was thinking brush insulation for the bottom. But what about the gap? I suspect the gap is too wide for the stardard foam insulation you see on doors (and that Ihave recently applied to the door through which you access the garage from the house).

Just did this for my dads double garage which was very cold in winter with draughts . Got silicone sealant to fill the gaps on the garage doors ,got double bubble foil insulation and stuck it to the inside of the door with grab adhesive. Got the foil off ebay .Used rubber piping again off ebay to seal around the doors and riveted it in place . Very easy though a bit of a fiddle .All in cost about £50 for the 2 doors . If you google " garage door insulation " you can see the stuff others have done and there is a few videos on you tube .Thats were i got the idea from ! .Worked well and hes pleased with it . There are kits available but i think they are about 3 times what i paid just to source easily available items .Its a good DIY project and fairly easy
