  • I thought this was a good deal until i went into tesco earlier and noticed that the strong white flour (tesco make) which i buy quite a lot of to make pizza was marked at £1.29, whereas Inormally pay 62p for this. So based on this, i would say this deal is pants, however, I cant speak for all of the baking products as to whether they are marked up. To be honest I was hopping mad when i saw that the price of that flour had doubled, what a cheek!!

Always buy the value batter mix for yorkshires...7p each, and these are included. Makes lovely yorkie puds!

Also be careful - sugar doesn't seem to be included ( I bought 3 bags assuming it was home baking - it's right beside the dried fruit etc and it's a staple ingredient in baking! I noticed when I checked the receipt that discount hadn't been applied - sugar not included in promotion according to local store customer services).
  • I bought tesco own brand sr flour at 52p a bag( I think?) - today in asda their own brand was 55p ( I used to get it for 42p), I also bought Dr Oetkers ready roll fondant at £1.34 a pack ( the cheapest I have had this was 99p in co-op last week, so the 3 for 2 at tesco is cheaper for me) think I should possibly check prices on the compare site first as I do a lot of baking so might be worth it for me if people are reporting big price hikes?

thanks for the tip about the sugar though, our sugar is miles away from the baking aisle so did wonder if it was included -what a shame!

Sugar has it's own department and includes all types - icing, demerara, light/dark brown etc.

I wonder if the bread flour will drop in price again when this promotion ends then? I noticed the other day that the items that are on Tesco's current raft of buy one , get two free offers have often increased in price when they go on that offer (the Cathedral City cheddar is a good example) but I had not connected the recent flour price hikes with the 3for2 home baking promotion I must admit. The increase on the standard own brand white bread flour was well over double by the way - they had been selling this at 50p a bag!

I my well go and take a look at the dried fruit though - it hadn't occurred to me that would be included and I use LOADS of dried apricots so thanks for the heads-up OP, much appreciated!

Does anybody know, if you buy 6 items in this promotion, do you get the 2 cheapest free, or is it the 3rd and 6th item (like M&S do) ?

    TIA
