Help with Bank Charges please

have just been reading the article on bank charges and there is no mention as to the time since the charges were made a claim has to be made in.Roughly 12 years ago I paid high bank charges running into thousands and wondered if a claim against the bank would still be possbile.

any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Amelia

That might not be strictly true. It depends on whether the bank has been committing a civil offence of a criminal offence by applying these charges.

At the moment, everyone is reclaiming charges by going through the County Court which would be a civil proceeding and so limited to 6 years. However, if the bank has been committing a criminal offence then there is no restriction so they can still be prosecuted (AFAIK). This could go back as far as the day when the bank first applied charges.

Anyone been down the 'criminal offence' road?
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
