Buyers Flooding Back To The Market

Just spent an interesting afternoon with my friendly local Estate Agent and it appears that not 1 day after the excellent Halifax October HPI results of +1.9% cash rich and first time buyers are streaming back to the market eager to pick up a dream home bargain before prices rocket next year. Basically our rough 'back of a fag' calculations worked out that the SA (seasonally adjusted) TELIN's (telephone in enquiries) were UP +14.2% while ENQIN (walk in enquiries) rose and astonishing +21.2%. While many were waiting in line to speak to the EA's I took the liberty to perform a random straw hat poll to discover why their URGENCY to buy. It appears that while 90% had been waiting for prices to stabilize they now realized this had now finished and that prices were on the precipice of ROCKETING astronomically early next year. On an eve more positive front 62.5% had heard of MSE (moneysavingexpert) and 0.00% of HPC (housepricecrash). So it seems the ghouls arent as influential as they'd all have you believe.

With that level of certainty as a result of careful analysis you need to seriously look into putting some research into stocks and shares. You would make a killing.
Go on, surprise and impress us by making some suggestions in markets other than housing.
Perhaps something that ain't so long term and political and emotive as dumb ole obvious property... aka the proles "investment".
Go on. Bet you're chicken.

My great thanks for this post. It explains everything now.
You see on a Friday, at Mrs Loughton Monkey's insistence, my main job is the week's grocery shopping. So I park in Sainsbury's (65 pence for the hour, refundable) but the shopping only takes 30 minutes, so I walk to The Holleybush for a quick pint.
It's only about 700 yards down the road.
Well I just couldn't believe it! The queue was extremely long, and everyone looked agitated and anxious. Thought there might be a special auction on at Boningtons. But no. They were closed as usual. Everyone seemed to be fighting to get into the Estate Agents on the corner.
All the staff seemed to be harrassed and what looked like the cleaning lady was sticking big red "Sold" stickers over all those little photographs in the window. All I could hear were shouts and rantings from both inside and outside the rather small premises....
- "Come on! I'm not in a chain. Cash buyer. I'll pay £375..."
- "..and you can plss off, matey, it's already under offer...."
- " ....OK. Look. Eight seven fifty and I guarantee I'll complete tomorrow. No need for survey...."
- "...you gazumping load of b*stards. I'll have you for this... Well I'll make it Nine three fifty...."
The community police were trying to keep some sort of order, doing their best, but there were only two of them. I just got round the corner and it seems the same was happening outside the other Estate Agents as well.
When I got home, Mrs Loughton Monkey wouldn't believe me. Thought I was imagining it all, because we all know houses aren't shifting. In fact I had to eat my fish with the coldest stare I've seen since I trod on her hydrangias last week.
Anyway, she has read your post, now, and thanks to you, she believes me.
Thanks again.0 -

Aussie stock LLC, Lend Lease Co
Yield 5%. Dividend cover 2x. RoE 12%.
If you don't believe the inflation story, it's all about yield.
Oh and the best thing is it's a stock people hate so you can buy it cheaply.0 -

Ghouls, for once I think you are giving good advice to ftbers.
Ftbers, carry on thinking.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0
