Hello everyone - I raced out to get the Grazia magazine so I could use the dune voucher at the Metro centre near me for my daughter's christmas boots ... but sadly sold out of 'charlie' worker boots in the shop.
My daughter's second choice was a pair from Oasis and when I got there they seemed a bit bashed up and creased to me - but the last pair. Rather than not having them for her to open christmas day as I'd been disappointed at Dune I took them to the till and I just said 'don't you have a discount day coming up? Oh no, I'm thinking of warehouse on the 11th' - and the lovely lady said 'I'll give you 10% discount'! As they were £65 and looked damaged to me (I'm old fashioned, can't buy ripped jeans either) I was delighted!

well done you for getting them. Strangely enough I bought a cardi at New Look yesterday thinking it was 20% off. When I got to counter I was charged full price. When I queried I was told only certain knitwear 20% off but then assistant said never mind I will give you it anyway! Then she said lots of other nice things - like have we helped you today or have you found what you wanted or some such things. A big shift in customer service happening??0

I've noticed the 'have you found what you were looking for today?' in New Look a lot recently too. It's wierd because I never really no what to say as most of the time I didn't go in 'looking' for anything, I just wandered in and bought on impulse!
Good to know though thanks OP

I wish they would do this the places I shop at! So many times I have walked away because I cannot afford what I want....:( (Am holding out for the January Sales!)0

I hope this is a sign that high street shops are becoming more haggle-able. I think Martin should do some research on this
