Long story turning longer.
I found out in July that for various reasons my endowments would now pay off my mortgage - saving me years of payments :beer:.
Unfortunately I was still in a lock in for a month - No problems I thought Ill get it all sorted and then on September 1st I would be free and easy.
How wrong could I be. First the Bank Of Ireland would need to release interest on my policies before Pru and L&G would release the monies.
I filled in the forms on 23rd August - As at 23rd September I had heard nothing - the interest rate went to variable but no release from the Endowments. Many calls later eventually in October they sent a letter to L&G who released the money quickly on the strngth of a phone call. - Transferred the cash asking of course that it first be applied to the Repayment part of my mortgage rather than the interest only. (we'll get to that later!)
Still no leter to the Pru. On 29 October I rang again WTH going on. Oh Sorry sir no copy of the letter in the file but Im sure its gone - As we all know no copy means no letter sent! I asked for 'another' to be sent. Post arrived with copy - They'd made a typo on the policy number :mad:. Rang Pru in India !!! Sorry sir without the right number we cant release also you need to fill in form which will be posted POSTED!!, and return it then 14 days later you wil get your cash.
I am by now seriously miffed having chased and paid several more months of premia and loan payments.
Today (I said Id get back to it), I receive confirmation that the 8k I got from the L&G has been duly applied to the ..... INTEREST ONLY part of the mortgage which intead of dropping my payments by over £80 per month has dropped it by £21 !!! - Who in thier right minds could have thought this was correct.
I will be mortgage free sometime but BOI must be made to pay for thier incompetence and delays - Any (intelligent) thoughts of what to do next would be gratefully considered. I am already going to demand repayment of any additional costs and demand that they waive the £195 fee to redeem the mortgage.

Letter of complaint to the chief exec via recorded delivery is a good start.

yup my thoughts exactly when i tried to complain to the Pru - mebbe get some initative going - the lady I was put through to was in India as well.
Basically said it was pointless speaking to an Indian call centre - she was a bit upset and said it didt matter where the call centre was ...
I had to disagree and bsically hung up.
At least BOI is all in the UK even if they are equally poor sad to say, also they dont work to a script
Thx for the tip - Ill go for that if they start geting shirty about the refunds. FSA mebbe too :A0
