A little help for a newbie?

Hi,

Brand new and someone has already bitten my head off once, so sheepishly stepping out to write this! I appologies in advance if this is the wrong board but still getting my head around it!

I've recently found out i'm lactose intollerant, and I wondered if anyone knew of any chocolates and goodies as xmas is coming up. My family are all trying to help me out too and therefore they're all giving up dairy (although think the sweet toothed Mr may regret at xmas!). Does anyone know of any shops online that are decently priced and the dairy alternative doesnt taste like dog?

Please feel free to move me if I have posted in the wrong place!

Thanks!

Jemma

Can't answer your question, I'm afraid, but sorry you've had your head bitten off...most people are lovely on here, but a few feel the need to act superior!

So I will say welcome to MSE! :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
  • just because you are lactose intollerant doesnt mean you have to shop any where else.

Most supermarkets to soya milk - either above 'normal' milk or with the uht stuff.

Yoghurts are available, custurd etc in the 'free from isle' There is ice-cream available {in frozen isle)

Jemb-welcome to MSE:) Sorry you've not had a great start -most people are helpful and genuinely want to help....the others ?ignore (difficult, I know!) & try not to let them get to you. Have had a few posts like that myself!
Someone will possibly move your post to the correct place...but perhaps you could try posting on the Foods and Grocery thread or the I Wanna Buy it/Do it board. These seem to be the places where you will find more responses (though I'm no expert).
On the right hand side of your page (when on grabbit section)-there should be a small FORUM JUMP box-scroll to Bargain Buys, sassy shopping link-click that and it will take you to a page where you can see the Food and Wanna links.
Hope it helps and I hope you get some answers:) x

The moo free chocs are guaranteed dairy free because the factory they are made in only makes dairy free chocolates.

Have you tried moo chocolates? I have bought them for a friend previously and she said they were pretty nice. Also http://www.alotofchocolate.co.uk/ lets you select by allergy type if that helps.

Wait, there was an advert I was talking about yesterday where a glass of milk is on a doorstep apologising to a girl. It says 95% of people who think they can't drink milk can drink _______.

I think it has "lactose" at the beginning of the name.

    I think it's "lactofree"

I am afraid I do not have any personal experience but just googling it has bought up this rather interesting website for chocolate:EasterBun

I hope you find the help you are after.

EDIT - I see I was far too slow and lots of other lovely people have beat me to it!

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO TAKE TIME TO POST COMPETITIONS

Hi and welcome. Some people are sticklers for rules but not me so ... I know someone who does handmade chocolates as a business. I know she does vegan and diabetic chocolate so I'll check with her this afternoon and see if she does lactose free. I don't think that she has full of lactose products in the same kitchen is a problem. It's not like a severe nut allergy or anything and your chocolate being in the same room as milk isn't going to cause an issue. Anyway this is her on the news -

You could give her an email and ask. She's lovely and her chocolates are amazing.
