Will it be ok to put it in the wash? Or will the microfibre go all lumpy?
Its one of these ones
I'd obviously rather wash it than shell out almost the price of a new one to have it dry cleaned,
It will fit in the machine ok, so thats not a problem. Why would it be dry clean only?
Any ideas??

Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right

I washed something very similar (that was marked as washable) and it went all lumpy - it went back to the shop for a refund. I wouldn't wash it. A good blow on the line would freshen it up.0

Thanks!
I feared it might go all lumpy
I'm just paranoid about bed bugs and it looks a bit grubby after my O/H was lying ill sweating in bed for a few days  which is why i wanted to wash it rather than just air it. Yuck!
I'll see how much it is to get it dry cleaned, if its a lot then I'll risk washing it and if it wrecks I'll get a new one as theyre reduced at the moment and it really is the nicest thing Ive ever bought for my bed!Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0 -
Do you have a 'steamer' - would that help to freshen it up and kill off any 'germs' that may possibly be lurking in it?0

So this goes between your matress and your bottom sheet? It seems a completely pointless item (for at least 2 reasons) if it can't be washed
I suspect if you wasn it the microfibre will lose its loft, and it'll no longer do its job.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
You could give it a rub down with a damp soapy cloth, then again using just water. Use something rough like a towelling face cloth. Then hang it on the line till completely dry. That should lift all the surface grot and freshen it up.Val.0

I've done pillows in the bath - lay them flat, fill bath with water and roll and unroll the pillows (don't scrunch them up).
Roll them up, put them in the washing machine (like posting a swiss roll through the porthole) so when they unroll they lie flat around the circumference of the drum, and spin.
Dry/air flat, not hung up or the filling sags.
They didn't go lumpy washed this way.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
That is a good quality topper, so don't ruin it by putting it in the washing machine. Bite the bullet this time and get it dry cleaned. Then buy a mattress protector so that you won't have the same problem again.0

thank you for all the replies peeps. much appreciated.
yeah tim, i think i'll do that, its about a tenner for dry cleaning so not too desperate.
Using it with a mattress protector on top is a great idea, which i had considered but its just a case of getting everything to fit over it. i have a hard enough job stretching the fitted sheets on top of it, my mattress is quite a thick one too. so adding ANOTHER layer to it is going to be a struggle.
the corners of the fitted sheets are always pinging off, yet the size up ones are just too big..
i cant win. lol
but it really is worth it, i love my bed.:DJust because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0 -

The mattress protectors made by DAPW (the same company you bought the topper from) have very stretchy skirts, so this shouldn't be a problem.0 -

Places like Scotts of Stow sell fitted sheets in normal sizes with extra deep side pleats to accommodate mattress+toppers.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
