Sony TV KDL46EX703U

Options
I intend to buy the above TV from John Lewis as they offer a 5 year warranty for 999.00 pounds. Sony are offering the vat back and will cost 850.00 pounds nett.
I would like members thoughts on the product with the new LED technology. It is 100Hertz which i prefer for picture clarity. Not very technical savvy.
Thanks

That is a nice TV at a fair price. You will not be disappointed.

You could save £100 e.g. @ Play.com, but JL have very good after sales.

  • 3d is out now, any interest.

    Panasonic, Plasma is cool.

    Don't forget the wall bracket.

Hard to find anything concrete on the tv. I have heard that some LED screens look worse due to backlighting issues

    For example -

I am considering a new tv for use in my kitchen and want facility to play iPlayer and have seen that tv in JL and IMHO picture quality looked very good. I prefer the rendering of plasma but IMHO this one was good even when viewing at an angle to the screen.

I am not impressed with 3D. At present, there is very little content available, it is expensive and I did not like wearing those glasses.

  • I bought the sony46 503 last month fantastic picture, remember John Lewis will price match the internet
  • 3D or true 3D ?, if they want to impress me, when they are able to model the image in all three physical dimensions, I'll begin to take an interest. If I can, from where I'm sitting, look around the scenery / characters just like I can now look around the back of this monitor - I'll begin to take notice of 3D, until that time arrives it's really only [ Emperor's~New~Clothes ] 2D with knobs on. It's just a Paul Daniels effect, a senses based experience not reproducible in an ordinary home, even in a ' home theatre environment '.

Seeing 3D in a megga cinema where a persons whole field vision [ including the peripheral ] is saturated with images and in addition directional sounds fills other primary senses makes me wonder if it's ever a home based experience - even wearing electric goggles, and using KEL / Bose Pro sound.

    No they don't.
......, if you see or buy a product from us and find it cheaper with a high street competitor (excludes online-only businesses), as long as their service conditions are comparable, such as delivery charges and guarantee terms, then we´ll match that price for you when you buy, or refund the difference for up to 28 days after if you´ve already purchased.

It's a fad, flash in the pan, present 3D home TVs backed by money hungry corporations, susceptible public brainwashed into buying after the constant bombardment of 3D films at the cinema.

In fact it's novel to see a 2D film at the cinema these days!

If I was a conspiracy theorist I'd say it was backed by the Umbralla Corporation to turn your 3D goggle wearing children into sightless, blind, brainwashed zombies
