the cheapest possible way of getting washing powder is to shop in the asian parts of town where you can get MASSIVE boxes of powder for £4 (about the same size as 10 boxes standard size) so effectively you get 8 boxes free if you pay about £2 per box in the supermarket. its branded stuff too.Fr. will this not just add to the cost
e.g if you use half of what company recommends then fill up with soda crystals doesnt that defeat the object?
Or does putting in crystals have some other benefits aswell|?
well I only put a scoop ( desert spoon) in and a bag of soda crystals whilst not only being v cheap 50p bag are excellent cleaners very good for stain removal - in fact they are for presoaking as well. So they boost my washing ans my tablets last twice as long cos only using one.
There's a thread on the old style forum on how wonderful soda crystals are, will try did it out for you.

I have started using Tescos Own make of bio, colour and non-bio...they always tend to have offers on...whether its 2 for £2.50 or 33% extra free...I have also marked up a measuring cup to stop me using too much!If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

TBH Carol I always liked using power but I got carried away and could never manange to get the reccommended amount of washes out of it. Your idea of marking the cup is a good one.0

I use tesco or asda basics/smartprice powder at about 50p for a small box E3 or Asda liquid-their smartprice one, otherwise I use lidls liquid. Having just got a new machine Im sure that is is the machine that is importandt and not the brand of detergent. I always use less than they recommend and I measure it using a free scoop or ball(go to ariel/persil/lever bros sites to get one) I use about 70ml of liquid or 70g of powder depending on size of wash/soiling etc.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I always put my machine on a reduced time wash cycle, to use less water & electric. Because of this I often get white marks left, I now perfer to use liquid, I'm going to buy some of these Soda Crystals and give them a try.
Thanks every one, for all the info.
The other thing is that they often have Try Me Free offers, you can get your money back, if it doesnt work properly, and dont forget using coupons at Tescos, Asda or Waitrose. This can make more expensive things better. Pick your till assistant well.Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52
