hi...im in need of some letter writing advice...im self employed and the past two years have been difficult to say the least,we've managed to scrape by but unfortunately the mortgage has suffered and we are in arrears. The mortgage is with I GROUP which is part of GE MONEY(isnt everything??)and theyve been very good with us by way of payment plans etc, but for the past couple of months ive been unable to pay anything. They keep trying to contact me by phone and although i know its totally the wrong thing to do,ive been ignoring the calls because i just dont know what to tell them anymore.I will have two jobs finishing and will be able to pay off the arrears before christmas(fingers crossed)but theyre going to want something in the meantime which with the nature of my work i just cant promise(self employed builder)..I was advised to ask about being put onto interest only for a set amount of time but(and this is where the advice is needed)I have to put the request in writing and i just dont know where to start and how to get everything ive mentioned across to them.hard to imagine going by the length of this post but i am RUBBISH at letter writing.Any advice on the wording or even better a template kind of thing would be very much appreciated.

Ignoring their communications and making no attempt to respond isn't good.
Remember the people contacting you are just doing their job. So there's no need to hide. You're just in an unfortunate position.
Start by calling them ASAP. Tell them precisely what the position is. Be honest.
Maybe you need to reappraise your own financial circumstances and take a long term view. No easy decisions but a reality check of what is affordable.0
