Hi emma,
If they're only just out of date they'll probably be fine.....best before is just a guidline. Chocolate can taste fusty if it's old, but at only 50p, I'd be tempted to buy a pack and [STRIKE]scoff the lot [/STRIKE]try them to see if they tasted ok.

Generally out of date chocolate is OK but it develops a sort of pale bloom on the surface. It still taste's OK, just looks a bit funny and won't make you ill.0

It should be fine although as already pointed out it may go a little dusty/white colour. We have just finished a box of Aero bars with a May date on and they were absolutely fine.0

I've eaten chocolate over a year out of date (still here!)
Who could waste chocolate?I haven't got one!0 -
I hope H&S dont pop round there soon............... they'd be shut down before anyone got any cheap choc!
If you really want to save some cash when the trick or treaters turn up.... turn the lights off and pretend noone is home and eat ALL the cheap chocolate yourself
OK so thats a bit mean?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Its ok to sell 'best before' stuff that's out of date, as long as the product is safe to eat. It would be a good idea to have a sign up though stating that its out of date, to show 'due diligence' as the health inspectors like to call it. Its not ok to sell 'use by' stuff though, that must be removed from sale. It usually applies to stuff like cooked meats, fresh meat, dairy products etc., stuff that could really make you poorly if eaten after a certain date.
