Hi,
Someone told me about the website: taxrebates.com - and that I may be able to get some tax back.
Is this site real or is it a scam? I would like to check before I fill in the online form. I have done a few google searches and can't find anything that says its a scam or rip off.
Any help will be great....
Thanks,
Tom

Its probably not a scam, but they will charge you a big chunk of your refund - probably around 40%.
You can apply direct to your tax office for your refund, or post your issue on here and we can advise.0 -
Yep - from the terms & conditions:
Our fee is 40p for each £1 of refund secured through the use of our service.0 -
What tax do you think you are owed? If you know that, you can apply direct to HMR&C. You don't need a third party.0

It's not a scam as such but is a waste of money as you can do this yourself.
Basically what they do is take your details and stick them into a standard letter to the HMRC to ask if you are entitled to a tax rebate. Then charge you 40% of whatever you get in refund.
Whereas you can fill out the same details in a letter yourself and get everything you are entitled to without having to pay 40% to an external company.
How to Reclaim Tax HMRC - from the HMRC website0 -
Hi...
Thanks for the responses - I will check out the link and ring my tax office to get this sorted.
Cheers,

If you know what you are due a refund for you can get help on this site and contact your tax office yourself.
If you don't know how much you are due/what you are due a refund for phoning HMR&C's contact centre in itself probably won't be enough - you really need to know what you're asking for before hand.0
