can anybody help me, about a week ago my boyfriend got a letter from " mackenzie hall", i have been reading the forum about it and just thought that id let you know that it is not just people with debts six years or over my apparent debt was on 2008 to 2010 for a whopping `£1,449,30` well you can imagine our surprise when this beauty came through the door as we had no idea what or who it was from, they have given a vague discription of the debt by saying that a company called HFC, any one actually know who HFC are? or mackenzie hall , i would appreciate it if someone can help me with this as i know that i have not had this debt because i moved, all i can say is that maybe someone stole my id or they are just scaming me, where do i go know, people have said that citizen advice are not very helpful over this matter as they cannot seem to get no info thereselves, thankyou if nyone can help.:j

Did you have a debt with them?
I'm going to change the thread title so people know what this thread is about.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Firstly you need to write to them and ask for proof that the debt exists and that it is indeed yours. Don't acknowledge anything and don't deal with them over the phone.0

HFC also manage the lending for PC World, if that helps...0

Have them substantiate the debt first, and don't speak to them on the phone.
I can attest from personal experience that phone contact with this company is pointless, frustrating, and you'll feel no better for doing it.0 -

The advice remains the same.
1. Prove it letter
2. Complain to OFT
3. Never, ever, EVER phone them.0 -

Bear it in mind also that MH were warned by the OFT last year for their dubious business practices.0 -
They are disgustingly horrible people to have to deal with.
Avoid telephone contact with them at all cost - they are just nasty and offensive.0
