Did your credit report sustain any damage due to you not paying them?

Yes it did as they are still allowed to update your credit report send letters and basically do anything they like apart from take any legal action to reclaim the money,

I am not to bothered about that as I do not have an actual mortgage just this loan that was taken out as an emergency, Mistake I know but its been done and now its been sorted.
  • Quite a way off topic here.

Have a loan with Welcome, which was a top up of another. I have one payment left on it at the moment, and had a succesful PPI reclaim about 12 months ago.

Completely out of the blue, I got a letter from Welcome last Friday saying that they had noticed that I only complained about PPI on my current loan and would I like them to investigate the previous loan (i.e. the first one before the top up).

It came with a SAE marked "THE PROJECT" and then the address.

Seems odd that they would contact me to essentially try to give me some money back.

I thought it would have done, so I just thought I'd highlight this point in case others stop making payments to them in the hope of getting their debt reduced, only to end up coming back here complaining about how their credit file has been trashed for the next six years...

As they are (I believe) in financial trouble, it may be that they have external auditors in checking their books and highlighting any "hidden" liability.

    .

Are you sure it is from Welcome and not some bunch of ambulance chasers who have got hold of your details??

You know the ones, "We'll fight your corner, no win, no fee".

I was (and still am) a little sceptical, but it was on Welcome Finance headed paper, and they quoted the loan numbers. Like I say, just odd that they would do it off their own bat
