how to get a mortgage with the mortgage works

We have found a property (btl) and would like to get a mortgage via the mortgage works however their website says for professional intermediaries only.

When I phoned up the phoneline they said that I needed to go via a professional intermediary.

Can anyone advise how we can get a mortgage with the mortgage works. We are based near Leeds/Harrogate. do they have a body of brokers they work with or will any broker do?

Any broker would be able to deal with this for you.

Are you sure The Mortgage Works is the best deal for you?

As you will need to use a broker anyway you should get them to research the market for you to be sure

Most Whole of Market mortgage brokers (i.e not tied) will have access.

.... and as GMS points our there are probably a number of other options at the moment (and - to a much greater degree than residential mortgages - many of the best are intermediary only).

Why go direct to a lender when a broker can do it for you?

The main point has been raised a couple of times in this thread which is how do you know The Mortgage Works is the best deal?

Broker only Buy to Let deals are now available, and it it turned out The Mortgage Works was the best after all then the broker could apply there for you.

I know they were the best for me as I asked a broker to check. They came back with The Mortgage Works. And when I wanted to go ahead they dragged there feet. Hence going it alone.

The broker dragged their feet? In what way?

The question was not particularly aimed at you, more of a generic but great answer!!

Answering the phone or getting back to me, and replying to questions. I wanted to get things moving and didn't feel I could rely on them.

You did the right thing. If you are not comfortable with, or feel your broker is not doing what they should do then move on.

We are not all the same I must say.
