Bank Charges

Options
Hi There,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question( yep another newbie - what a great site :T ), but here goes: Our debts are currently being managed through Payplan, the bank have closed our account, but we were wondering whether we could try & see if we could claim back some of the charges to pay off some of the debt?

    Id discuss it with payplan.

TBH some people are finding that the banks are repealing the DMPs if someone sues thier bank for their charges back.

    Have you seen https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum

have a good look on there to see if there is any recent discussion, there does seem to be this question coming up fairly regularly.

    Good luck & welcome :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

No. The banks aren't repealing the DMP they are insisting that the refunds go towards their debt. In some cases this effectively cancels the DMP as the loan will be cancelled out or reduced to a level where it no longer qualifies for DMP.

Technically, you could argue that this is wrong on the grounds that you should treat every creditor with equal measure on a pro-rata basis but I would rather use the money to get rid of one debt completely...
