Yes, I did end up going to see Mam this afternoon :j

Steve and Kit were right - I did text them saying that my brother went by bus this morning, and that my sister and neice were taking the girls down this afternoon by taxi. However, I was sitting there thinking "I'd better go out and start the car again, and could get the snow off it and clear the path again while it is running" - so I did. then I thought "oh I'll drive the car back and forwards a bit to free the wheels up a bit" so I did, and tried to pull out into the street. I didn't quite pull out as I couldn't go away from the house as the front door was not locked

Anyway, I texted my sister to say I could probably take them down instead of them getting a taxi, so we arranged a pick up time though I would have to pick them up on the main road as side roads still really bad. My brother was back by then and he suggested we cleared some of the snow that was built up in front and behind the car, so he shovelled and I cleared snow onto garden. Then, after a bit of shoving by my brother, I got away OK so I picked them up and we got down to see Mam

Mam was fine - awake and cheerful and guess what? ......................................................................................... she ate another full size Magnum ......................... in no time either!!! My gr-neice even remarked on how happy she looked this time, as the last time she was there her GreatGrandMa was ill and choking and she was very worried about her

Wow well done susan & your bro in clearing the snow from around the car. Plus you being able to drive to collect your sis & neice up to all go to the care home to visit your mam.. Thats good news that your mam is doing well and eating her magnums.. lol
I take it you got home ok and was able to park the car again on the drive?

I replied to your email about the dining set SW - with another option of black chairs with jazzy covers, but of course you could have the jazzy chairs with plain covers :D:D

Yes I got back fine - it is literally only as I turn into our street that the clear roads turn to thick slush at the junction and then compressed deep snow. Mam lives only 200 yrds down the street so that's all I had to drive on snow and parking is in the main street, no drive, so just pulled to the side. The road now has cars parked odown both sides in deep snow/compressed snow, with single track up the middle on the compressed snow and ice

Added: My only worry was that when I was out someone would park in the area outside Mam's that we had just cleared and I would have to park further up the street !!!

Really brave Susan. I've lost my confidence driving as it is (with not driving the car much) so to even think I'd take the car out in this weather
    is.. unthinkable.

Magnums huh? I think a big box for Christmas is called for hehe.

Pleased you get another snow day sw. Hey misses, if you like that one get that one. If i'm honest I prefer that to the plain black but don't listen to
me as i'm an oak kind of a girl (and very boring!)

At least with only getting out to see Mam, my day was an NSD :j so off to report that to Spoony on the NSD thread

Tomorrow, I am hoping to get out to the shops, if the conditions don't change, and will be able to take sister to see Mam late afternoon again, so pleased about that :j :j

So far everyone has liked plain black. The safe option and the best one. My dad would freak if he saw the Bet Lynch version and I would like him to enjoy them when he visits so i think i have found something i like at last. I am ringing them tomorrow to see if they have a sale after Xmas as i really like it. I can use mad accessories later to brighten it all up. Now to find out how much i have saved up fingers crossed.

Like I said SW, you can get covers for them - my neice has cream one's one her chairs but you can get all colours and, yes, animal print too - see here http://www.loose-covers.biz/dining.html
