Hi MicheH,
How are you today?
The main roads are ok, but the village and the other country roads were a nightmare, there were cars slidding and wheel spining everywhere.DFW#972 LBM2 (09/07/12) £25938.84; Current £23783.35;Credit Credit Card1 £128.47/£6424.24 (2%);Credit Card2 £443.86/£15663.25 (2.8%); Overdraft £0/£2500 (0%)0 -

Hiya everyone :j :j :j :j
The snow started, as I said in earlier post, at 11 pm last night and when I looked out at 3.45 am it was still snowing - also at 11.30 and about 1 am, we had thunder and lightning   I've thought and I've thought but I cannot remember ever having thunder and lightning during a snow storm  Very odd indeed   Anyway, I would reckon that we have had about 14 or 15 inches of snow now, judging by that 'guinness glass' dustbin in the garden,, but it could be more as it has been a bit more wind today which may take some snow off the top
My brother got the bus down to shops and then the metro down to see Mam for an hour or so, and he is on his way back now. Mam was the same today - she ate her dinner and an ice cream :j My sister and I will try to get down by taxi tomorrow to see her
I had to post a letter to Mr 3Dogs no, not a love letter, we do that on here and by text, it was money as he was running short!!! so I wrapped up and walked down to our local post office then the nearby shops for some fruit but they didn't sell yoghurts - horror upon horror, what am I going to do? It was OK walking down as the paths were compressed snow, a little trickier crossing the roads, but it started to snow heavy while I was in the PO, so the walk up was a little harder, with the snow in my face. However, it is only about 500 yards to the shops so it was hardly Scott of the Antartic stuff. Mind you, I would not have liked to have walked any further and was glad when my neice decided not to go to slimming class as her youngest girl's swimming lesson at same venue was cancelled, so I didn't have to go out again. There had been a severe weather warning and my neice had been informed that their parents meeting was cancelled and they could collect the girls from 1.30 pm. The girls certainly didn't mind, as they were pulled home on their sledges :j :j
Mam, Sister and Neice all live in same area - within a mile of each other - on the same estate basically, with only a very slight slope from the top to the bottom of the eastate - so it is all built up, meaning the side roads they live on are still white with compressed snow with buried cars at each side in most places. the main roads/ bus routes are better, but even some of them are still snow/deep slush covered, with the through routes clear most of the time, though when heavy snow falls they take a while to clear again. My sisters car which I am using while I am up here, will take considerable digging out when the roads clear
You were either very brave or very silly to attempt the journey to work Frit - after all, you have to do it all again to get home :T Take care Pet
And Miche, it must be very picturesque where you are, with the countryside around you, but best viewed from indoors I think

I was going to begin writing my Christmas card list but haven't managed it so faras been trying to get my head round spreadsheets (again) was reading frits diary and that coaxed me to try again. Failed.
I've only been out to shovel snow [STRIKE]watch the lad from over the road shovel it for me I mean[/STRIKE] from my drive and that's it. The rest of the day stood a winda with me cuppa watching the cars slide and the folks trudging through it.
