Mortgage query

Hi, can anyone help me with a query regarding mortgage. Basically partner and I are looking to purchase a house. Partner has good cash deposit and good credit. I have a car loan (£6k outstanding - two years to go) and three credit cards - two are decreasing amounts of £2k & £3k on zero percent and one I use and clear every month. One of them I was a day late with a payment (so much for fast tracked payment) and then switched remainder amount to zero percent. Can anyone advise if this will affect my credit rating? We both have good secure jobs and fair salaries. Don't want a search being done if there is a chance it will get declined at this stage? Many thanks.

  • I don't think it will affect your credit rating (as long as you aren't in arrears on any of your debts - and it sounds like you aren't), however, it will probably reduce the overall amount of money you can borrow as lenders will take existing debts into account.
