hi there im a newbie

just wanted to come in and say hi :D

i am with my partner, one child and one on the way, partner works 40hrs a week i work 16 but leaving for maternity soon.

we have £5k debt and it seems awful to us but i know its by far the worst situation, we are on a DMP with payplan right now but trying to negotiate early settlement figures best we can to clear debt asap.

if anyone has any advice on negotiating, etc i would be more than grateful for it!! also i have just put in a claim for £1,502 in bank charges from hsbc so hoping that could maybe pay off around £2k of debt if i get deals on settlements?

anyway sorry for waffling, thanks for reading and i wish u all the best of luck

You could try offering to settle your debts completely with this money as most lenders will accept a minimum of 35% which is £1,750 on £5K. By the time your claim is settled it would not be unreasonable to add your normal monthly payment to your windfall and get rid of everything.

The only problem is is that if some of your debt is with the bank you are claiming against then they will expect you to settle this in full first.
