    Sites like Groupon intrigue me for in the end someone pays! Interesting to read how it works. Referrals and earning credit and all the rest of it. Who pays I wonder; for someone must? Does anyone know?

    In a similar vein there are a lot of sites that offer to obtain FREE quotes for you off tradesmen. Most of these sites charge the tradesmen for the referral. Typically they try to seek 5 quotes. All things being equal the trades-person only gets 20% of the work referred. If the fee is £30 then the cost per job is £150. Again who pays?

    If any of you have old boilers go to this site and check how efficient they are;

    Check against modern condensing boilers. If there is a large difference, and you can afford it, think about changing the boiler and upgrading your controls. The pay back time could be very short. If you have even more money think about air source heat pumps and the like.

    (I am not a plumber trying to drum up work!)

    Thanks

    We use "Straid Ahead" for our oil burner.
    Tried them after another guy "serviced" our boiler without actually opening it up.
