Californian Duster

After reading about Stardrops (I have yet to get hold of any) it reminded me of what I consider a good purchase. A Californian Duster.
You can buy these from Lakeland, they are better than the cheap imitations.
When I dust I flick this thing over all the furniture for quick easy dusting. It is a hand held sort of cotton string brush that picks up the dirt. I find it much quicker than using a cloth and equally as good.
I did an experiment once to see if the dust came back any quicker using this duster as opposed to a cloth and there was no difference. When it gets dirty you can bang it out or you can wash it.
Much more economical than the disposable dusters like the flash one for instance.
Another tip for anyone not used to housework. If you do nothing else each week make sure you vacuum the carpets this cuts down dusting amazingly. The more you vacuum the less dusting is needed. I did my downstairs today and hadn't really touched it for about a month but you wouldn't know it.
Another tip is sweep the front path stops dirt getting trodden in.

I was bought one of these California dusters when they first came over here about 15*cough* or more years ago. I used it for over 12 years before I broke the hande throwing it down ther stairs cos I was too lazy to go down. LOL I replaced it with a pound shop cheapie and I can't tell the difference.
Never wash them with detergents or use spray polishes or waxes with them tho and they will last for ages. I use a selection of cut-down flannelette sheets when using polishes/ wood waxes and oils.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
I have had one of these for almost 20 years, I still use it if I want to do a quick swipe over especially if we are expecting visitors and I have not enough time to do a proper clean........... all the dust sticks to the mop, shake it outside and bingo its all gone!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
