Attaching Christmas Lights

Hi everyone, just another quick question for you all :)

With the festive period fast approaching my thoughts have turned to my outdoor christmas lights plan. I am hoping to hang some icicle lights from the porch outside the house. The porch has recently (2 days ago) been repainted and so I dont want to start knocking nails into the wood to hold the lights up. I cant use gutter clips as there arnt any gutters on the porch. So basically what I'm asking is for ideas of how to attach the lights to the porch. Do they sell tile clips to clip the lights directly to the edge of the porch roof tiles?

Thanks everyone.

how about the window suckers ?

similare to this. i got ours in B&Q and the lights cable just pushes intot the sucker, or we have ones with a hook on the cable. they stick really well on glass and pvc windows. would prob would also on a wooden surface is it is glossy.

Yes its glossy. I'm just abit worried about using a suction cup idea incase over time they lost their suction. Last thing I need is all the lights on my porch crashing down and having to start again.

I've found some clips that work on both gutters and tiles. The stockist lists Focus, Homebase and Dobbies as all supplying them. I've had a look on the website for all 3 and cant find them on there.

I'd agree with the window suckers - we have a massive feature window at the front of our house and last year I bought some icicle lights. Like you, I didn't want to nail into the frames etc and was a bit dubious about the suckers but I got some as that was my only option.

I was actually really surprised... I expected the whole lot to be on the floor the following morning but they held them up brilliantly - just the odd one popped off so just stuck it back on!

We had the ones that have a slit in the top (in the middle) of the sucker and you push the wires into it.

An added bonus is that once you've put them up, if you aren't happy with how your lights look, then you can redo it!

as with lexuslass we've had ours now about 4 years maybe more and they still stick fantastic. the odd 1 may pop off over the course of xmas but never the whole lot. i bought just the indoor ones, but i also use them in my porch ands they are fine on the glass and pvc.
