What Size Turkey Do I Need?

Hi everyone. Just a quick question really, I'm having the family round this year for christmas and we're trying to work out what size Turkey or Cockrell i'll need to get.
There will be 4 adults eatting and 2 children (8 and 9). I'm planning on doing all the normal extras, mashed potato, roast potatoes, parsnipps, brussels, pigs in blankets, stuffing etc etc.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of a guide as to what size of bird we'll be needing please.

A very small one!!
For small numbers you need to allow 1lb uncooked weight per person - so you need a 6lb turkey (assuming that the children have adult appetites!). I would go with a turkey crown rather than a whole bird for 6 people - otherwise you will end up with leftovers till new year (unless you *want* leftovers till new year!)
We will be 3 for Christmas dinner and will just be having a large turkey breast which will be plenty for us.0 -
I would rather go for larger than I need, so plenty for sandwiches boxing day and then also plenty to make a curry. We always get a stuffed turkey crown from M & S....know there expensive but lovely. I even bought their 99p carton of turkey baste which they brought out last year.....at the time it was mentioned in the newspapers as "having a turkey with a tan", certainly makes the turkey a lovely colour.0

Well I LOVE turkey (especially when cooked on the bone) so TBH I always buy the largest bird we can afford. Any excess meat that won't be eaten gets frozen but that doesn't happen very often
