Ecover alternatives and bulk buy

Options
Can anyone suggest any alternative brand’s, equally environmentally friendly products?

Also any suggestion on where to get it the cheapest, preferably online? I am currently buying from Sainsbury's.

I am particulary keen on these:
Ecover Laundry Products
Ecover Dishwashing Products
Ecover Household Cleaners

Thanks
mr

I have used Clearspring before, and was very pelased with it. I have recently ordered Bio D, but don't know what that is like. It was the cheapest available through SUma, who we use as a wholefood co-op, but I don't know where you could get it online.

    Hi there
I don't know of an alternative brand but I buy Ecover in bulk from these people -

They always have plenty of stock, it doesn't take long to get here and you can buy in bulk saving on the Sainsbury's prices.
  • tesco's have started doing their own brand not bad in comparison to ecover and quite a bit cheaper

The good thing about Ecover (apart from banishing nasty chemicals from the house, of course) is that it is made in the "world's most environmentally friendly factory". Can Tesco compete with that sort of ethic? I would be amazed if they could!
  • I have used Bio-D which isnt available in many places but is cheaper than ecover.

Ecover tablets are on a try me free offer at the moment so you can get a box free if that helps. I agree with other poster about Tesco's creation. Whilst I am very pro environmentally friendly products we do need to watch out for people jumping on badwaggons to increase their profits rather than because of concern for the enironment.

Good point - I used to buy ecover or supermarket own brand alternatives when environmentally friendly products were big business in the supermarkets a few years back but I have not seen these in supermarkets over last 3 years or so (can still get ecover though).
  • It might be a good idea to take a look at the Green & Ethical Moneysaving forum for this subject. I'm sure others would have asked this before.

Even in bulk it's still more expensive than Sainsburys. 1ltr Washing up liquid in Sainsburys is £1.75.

And Ecover is also owned by Jorgen Philip Sorensen who also has a major stake in Group 4 Securicor. So if ethics is your concern I'd steer clear of Ecover and go for BioD or Clearspring.
