hey guys
i won an iphone with lucozade's comp last week (cheers all):j but i just read the terms and conditions.. & it seems like nearly all comps have a small print which states - " Winners may be required to take part in reasonable unpaid promotional publicity"
- i was just wondering how often do they really ask winners to do this(?) also i take it once you got your prize they really cant force you to do anything?
cheers
( as you can tell im new to comping
)

I'm not sure if they can force you. But they do usually do this with the big prizes, so when someone wins £20k, £1k sometimes even. I think it's just to show that the competition was genuine. But i dunno much about it as I've never been asked to take part in publicity before (thank God).0

I once won £50 with Nectar card , they sent a professional photographer to my house for the pic and it did appear on a leaflet they produced....he took 15 photos of me in the sitting room and the garden, they sent them all to me , they're best pics of me I've got !!!0

This made me chuckle. When I was 11, I won my first ever prize - an Acorn pocket book computer (this was impressive at the time;)).
They sent a photographer round, took my pic (me with cheesy grin and embarrassing padded headband) and it appeared in 2 local papers.
As if that wasn't embarrassing enough, my Mum was so proud she took the newspaper cutting into my school without telling me. In front of the whole assembly, the head teacher called me up, held up the article and I got a round of applause. *CRINGE* :eek::o0 -
I won a holiday to Ibiza or £1,000 with a comp run by Keystores and Corona lager and had to get my photo in the local paper. Didn't mind too much as long as I got my cheque!Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Some companies want to promote your wins and I have twice had companies send photographers to take pictures of me and my family for the local papers. I don't really mind I usually ask if we can have a photo taken as a family and if they let you have copies they can be a nice keepsake.Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A0

Its all part of comping if you agreed to the t&cs and it says it in there than thats it:) I won some cash from one of the mag comps earlier this year and they called and emailed me for a pic at least 4 times I wasnt keen but sent them one anyway and they never used it:rotfl:not sure what that says about me;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I wouldn't worry about the Lucozade comp - they're giving away 450 (or is it 451?) iPhones over the whole promo so they probably wouldn't want a photo of every winner and I doubt they'd call everyone to a photo shoot.
I often wonder about the publicity thing too. I usually just enter the comp anyway and hope they won't actually want the publicity and I also try not to enter any embarrassing comps.
Well done on your win! :T0 -
To be honest I would chill. The chances of having to do this are rare (in my experience). Usually these companies don't have the time and the company or PR company just send the prize out. In the last 10 years I have had piccys in the paper after a big win and in another win of £250 vouchers, the congratulations phonecall mentioned that they wanted to organise a get together of all 5 winners. Although a week later they just sent the vouchers in the post and I heard nothing more. I have had my name printed & put online a lot through wins but I don't mind this. I wouldn't worry. Chill
Whether we win or lose,that we played at all was a winning decision.
