We have a mortgage offer out now am just waiting for the solicitors to do there bit & should hopefully be called into sign anyday.
Just wondered as we have mortgage offer do the bank do any more checks now they have done that ? Would they know if one of us was to say start claiming job seekers allowance?

Is it an offer in principal (ie yes you can borrow the money, assuming when we do our checks there is nothing untoward) or an offer in writing following valuation etc etc (Im assuming it is, since you are about to sign)?
I dont know the answer to your question, but I do know that the above makes a difference to the answer.0 -
If you have the actual offer then they won't do any more checks, however you must alert them if your circumstances change (e.g. losing your job and starting to claim JSA) or you'll be committing mortgage fraud.0
