The “arrgggh it’s nearly Xmas” November NSD challenge

:jWELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER NSD CHALLENGE:j
November: the clocks have gone back, dark evenings arrive and we’re all depressed at the onset of winter. No need to sit and be gloomy on your own, come and join us in the NSD challenge, we’ll make you feel at home and give you the odd laugh or two at our antics.:D
I’m going to give you another reason to join us in the NSD challenge. This is the start of a very expensive time for most of us, with pressure to buy presents and all the other paraphernalia associated with Xmas, so come and join our happy (and some might say mildly insane) bunch in our battle with the retailers conspiring to tempt us to part with our hard-earned cash - and there’s plenty of temptation at the moment.
We are seriously committed to saving money, but nobody said it can't be done with a smile on your face - so we organise riotous nights out and gatecrash any function going - all without leaving the comfort of our own imaginations or armchairs!
On a slightly more serious note, we are here to help each other avoid spending for the number of days we feel we can manage to try to take back some control over our hard-earned money. What you class as a "spend'" is entirely your choice; some people will try to shop on the days DD/SO etc are paid, whilst others will not include essentials such as rent.
It’s amazing how inventive you get when you’re determined NOT to spend - from weird menu ingredients to surprising DIY solutions - but you know what? 99% of the time those wacky ideas work.
Have a look at our October thread (link below) to see what a friendly group we are. New recruits are joining up all the time - everyone is welcome so please don’t be shy, come and join us, the more the merrier.
Good luck everyone, we have our lucky mascot with us again to help us all along

Days of note in November
15th - First modern Olympics held in Greece (anyone up for some running and jumping:))
23rd - First Doctor Who broadcast on the Beeb (very appropriate for an outing with the Tardis, I think:D)
27th - Buy Nothing Day (good for us NSD-ers):j:j
Here are some threads to help keep us on the straight and narrow, if you know of others, please post. Many of the lunch box ideas are aimed toward children and are great ideas now that everyone’s back to work and/or school.

Leftovers? Don’t Throw It..

A new addition for this month
One of our band suggested it might be a good idea (and an extra incentive) to keep a list of the highest number of NSDs in a row.
If you want to set yourselves an additional target for x NSDs in a row (as jintyb did in October with her 6), feel free and I can add you in here - I might even be able to manage a little prizelet if you make it.
If this takes off, I can transfer the highest numbers onto December's thread and see if anyone can do any better.
(We are talking about a reasonable number though, not 2!!)
Attempts so far registered:
boultdj - 5 5achieved now - well done

twistedhazel - 6
cw18 - 6
chris81418 - 6 7 achieved now - well done

Incidentally, if we celebrate the anniversary of the first Olympics, that solves the problem of deciding what to wear as they all used to compete naked in Ancient Greece. One life - your life - live it!0
