Asda's mis-pricing policy.

What is the official procedure at Asda stores when there is an item charged at a wrong price? I've heard different outcomes from different shops and I'm wondering what version is the correct one.

don't know the official policy but the other day i bought a peice of ginger which scanned at £2.66 - this was a tiny peice of aobut 2 inches. when i stopped the cashier he offered to sell it to me for 90p. I told him that i wasn't prepared to haggle but wanted to buy it for the correct price. a manager then came over and got another peice to test. This came up at the ame price even though it was much bigger so he gave me both peices for free!I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080

Hi lilac lady,
I think this question will be better suited for the "shop but don't drop" board where all the serious shopping gurus hang outso I'll move the post across for you.

http://www.asda.co.uk/corp/customer_service/FAQs.htm#option4What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged or undercharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.0 -
And PLEASE insist on getting the £2 giftcard. Asda are scandalous for trying to put you off this, you wouldn't believe the lies I've been told. Go for it!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

my daughter got a £5 gift card when she was wrongly accused of shoplifting. she was using the self service thingy and had typed in 4 and entered a lemon when a woman rushed over and accused her of trying to steal 3 lemons. she unpacked all our shopping while i was telling her to look at the screen. eventually she realised and shrugged her shoulders and walked off leaving us to repack the shopping and disperse the small crowd that had gathered. She is a teenage mum and said that sort of thing always happens because of the assumptions people make but i made her complain and she received a gift card and an apology for the "less than warm and friendly service".I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080

Asda def offer £2 gift card in their policy but not all CS are aware of it. I don't usually shop in Asda and was overcharged last week. I was refunded the 22p from CS and given an apology, after reading the boards on here I emailed Customer Service and they very promptly email ed me with another apology and a request for my address to send the £2 gift card. If you don't get one, ask head office.
Thks guys by the way, I'd have just walked away without knowing about the £2. I wonder how many other people do?0 -
I was overpriced this week on 6 tins of kids spaghetti, was charged 60p instead of 40p (stocked up whilst they were on special offer as my kids love the stuff!!), does this mean I will get 6 lots of £2?????0

The asda wedsite says that you get £2 gift card per item, so yes indeed you are entitled to 6!0 -
A friend of mine lives in a one up one down (her kitchen and living and room are as one. She bought some ready meal curries and as she was walking across the living room to her fridge she dropped one of the curries on the floor and it burst open, spilling chicken tikka all over her carpet. She rang Asda and said that the lid had not been secured correctly and they said if she got her carpet professionally cleaned they would reimburse her. She took the invoice to Customer Service and they repaid her the £45.00 cost in full, plus they refunded her the cost of the curry!0
