Graham dear, are you not always explaining how economists are always wrong?

Anyway, what about Mervyn, is he wrong or right today?

The fact is that the article you brought up to confirm your analysis is actually confirming the argument you're arguing against. That's quite amusing in a way.

Bit like the subconscience thing then, and getting your fingers burnt, isnt it ;)

I have a soft spot for you Julie. However, are you Hamish's wife?

A three bedroom house is well within the reach of London commuters for something just north of half that amount, and you shouldn't use an extreme example in a distorted part of the market (London) to make general conclusions on affordability.

Likewise, you shouldn`t dismiss large portions of the market, such as London.

Then by definition, so are you because you're making an analysis based on the same facts I see. You've just jumped to different conclusions.

"Too early to tell" isn`t really a conclusion to the situation in question. The conclusion will be seen after a longer period of tightened lending conditions (should that happen).

I suppose you might argue about the semantics, but I think you understand the point I was making.

Graham, I wasn't going to push this because it's shooting at an ambulance and it was a cheap dig in the first place. But if you want to press the point, youu do definitely mean subconscious. As defined by Freud I think. Go and look it up.

And a bit of sexism emerging from your own subconscious there too I suspect. What on earth would it matter to my arguments if I were Hamish's wife?

But keep wriggling. Fact is you posted an argument that contradicted what you're saying. Nice trick :rotfl: Time for the Chewbacca defence...

Blimey Graham, are you trying to chat up Julie ?

Why not offer her out for a date? You could take her to Comet to help you choose an LED TV.

Indeed, so why not work on averages? If all flats were 400K then you'd have a point, but all you're really doing is cherrypicking an example to make a point which is not generally true.

I think it's fair to dismiss a lot of the London market as unrepresentative, given the very extreme amount of competition to live there for various reasons.

Sexism? What? Because of the subconscience thing? Or was it fingers being burnt? The soft spot? Is that sexist?

Genuinely confuddled. But nice to see the sexist remark pop out again :D

I'm not doing very well lately. I'm sexist and racist. And I still don't even have a LED TV to make up for it :(
