Just almost had a heart attack..

I put some money on the national lottery website this morning to get my tickets, and had some money left over so played some instant win games. I kept winning £2 and £5 and bought extra tickets for the rollover on wednesday.

My last £2 was on the Monopoly 3D instant win and i'd already landed on Mayfair (half of the £50,000 prize). On my last roll I was approaching 'Go' and miscounted the dice - I counted out the steps before my piece moved, putting myself on Park Lane, which would have gotten me 50 grand, and felt sick. Then reality slapped me in the face and I landed on the community chest.

FML :(

:A A million thanks to everyone who posts :A
  • lol bad luck, has anyone actually won a reasonable amount on the online instants? best ive got is a tenner
  • My mate's dad had a worse story - he used to do the lottery every week, and made sure he chose different numbers each time, so he kept a log book. He was horrified one week to see the six numbers he'd chosen the previous week come up! He would've won several million pounds if he'd done them a week later!

The chance of winning on those things has nothing to do with how close it looks.
Unlike for example the lottery where if you get the first 5 numbers out your chance of matching the 6th really is 1 out of the remaining 44 numbers the scratchcards (online and shop) have far more "almost won" cards that have nothing to do with your actual chance of winning.
Of course there are people who win, just remember on average the lottery pays out 50% or less of each pound they take in.

Aw, hope your luck changes soon :)
I've won £100 on the site before after 2 £2 goes so I immediately banked it! I've also played a try now one and would have won £100 if I'd bought it :o
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!
