Boss taking the p**s!

This is more of a rant than a question but feel free to let me know what you think...:D
I work in a business that has 4 stores. I am a receptionist at one of these stores and work 40+ hours a week. My manager also works at the store I do, but doesn't do half as many hours as I do, yet every month she's claiming for around 60 hours overtime!
Now, she and another manager do visit the other stores from time to time but each store has a couple of receptionists so it isn't like they "work" on reception, they just go around checking everything is ok then move onto the next place.
The big boss is always moaning that we are not making enough money, yet he's happy to pay over £600 overtime to 1 person, (plus approx. £170 mileage...) each month, without questioning it.
I am always being asked to come in early, stay late, and cover weekends for my boss, which makes me wonder where she is actually working. The other stores call me daily asking if she is with me as they need her, but if she isn't with me or working elsewhere, how can she rack up 60 hours overtime?!?!?
The company is p**sing away money by allowing her to claim for hours she hasn't even done!
Rant over...for now...;)

If this really is getting on your nerves then say something to the MD, sure he/she would like to know where money can be saved within the company, either that or you really need to remain quiet and just get on with your job.
If i was in this position i'm sure i'd have to say something as i would feel i was being made a mug of.0 -
If you are asked to do all these extra hours are you claiming O/T too?
Doesn't matter what she is claiming, thats up to her managers to identify and query if required.0 -
a - if she's 'management' then she's possibly doing loads of hours at home on top of the work 'at work'.
however, she could just as well be screwing them for all she can.
Only her boss will be able to do anything about it; and if that boss knows what the deal is, and you 'dob her in'; then you do risk the wrath when she finds out.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Fairly typical for someone who doesn't manage to not realise what it involves. Your manager has to supervise all aspects of all these premises and insure they are being done correctly with liability for problems on them. Additionally they have to manage the staff involved, the budgets and finances and this is no small task.
It isnt until you line manage someone you realise how much work is involved in it. I can quite easily see how someone managing several sites and the staff at those could be running up that sort of overtime. I bet they also spend a lot of time at home/in private working as it isnt appropriate to sit in site of everyone else to deal with a lot of stuff. They will also be paid for their travel between sites as well as likely being on call.
People criticise management but you can normally guarentee those most vocal have never managed anything or anyone.0 -

When the other stores call you to ask where she is, say that you don't know and suggest they phone the big boss to find out. That brings the matter to his attention in a genuine way.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I do believe such actions as claiming for o/t that has not been worked is classed as obtaining money by deception. I'm sure the big boss will rip her to shreds when the truth finally comes-out.Never Knowingly Understood.
