possibly remortgaging

My husband and I need to remortgage our home, as we want to move to a bigger house.

We are in a 5 year fixed deal which ends in 2014, at 7.5%. We borrowed 90k and pay 640 per month.

When we remortgage - either on this house or a new one - do we need to show wage slips etc? As I have had a year's maternity leave and not currently working at the moment.

We can more than cope on hubby's salary but obviously the mortgage company won't agree (even though we have paid the mortgage almost entirely with his salary)

Will they accept I've been on maternity leave or will they ask for wage slips? and how many?

If you move. Then you won't be remortgaging. You'll be applying for a new mortgage and will need to disclose all the facts on the application form.

As you are on a rate of 7.5% I would stongly recommend making overpayments on your mortgage. As its highly unlikely your savings will be earning you anything like this rate.
