I've paid 20p for a few grams, enough for one bread bake, from Tescos, and that was last year. I too had read on here about getting it free, and was quite surprised, especially when I saw how little I actually had been given. I think the price was plucked from the air, as there was a bit of a staff discussion before the price was put on it. I decided to stick to dried instead.

I've seen live oysters sold at supermarkets.

I would hope so, because dead ones will make you pretty ill if you eat them.

Sainsburys use fresh yeast and comes in huge blocks of 7.5kg. We do charge customers for yeast. I think I scanned some the other week for 20p. I have no idea how much bread you can make from 7.5kg of yeast.

Are you saying you gave someone 7.5kg of yeast for 20p?

20p was certainally NOT the price Sainsburys wanted to charge me for a block of yeast!! Surfice to say I walked out (without the shopping I'd picked up) and went to ASDA who gave me yeast for free.
