How much does an apple tree cost?

As subject.

Thank you.

  • To be honest it depends on the variety and the size.

I bought one as a Christening present which had two varieties of apple on the one tree and could be grown in a container if required and it cost £25, but the range is huge so to get an idea you will have to be more specific.

B & Q sell Apple trees and other fruit trees from £10.00. I have bought a few trees from them and they have all been very good.

or, if you have a lot of time on your hands, get some of the pips out of an apple, plant em and see what happens...I have grown 2 apple trees which are now planted in my parents garden, and currently have around 20 orange seedlings on my windowsill here.

But, if you want to buy, then I think the cost of the last apple tree I bought was around £20

if you only want one..make sure it is a self pollinating one. Can't remember which variety I brought for my mum, just remember reading lots of labels at the local nursery until I found the right one, and it cost about £30

Ken Muir is the best fruit specialist in this country (although not the cheapest). He's currently selling lots of varieties:

He puts all his apples into pollination groups A, B or C (an apple will pollinate something in its own group and an adjacent group). Bramley's Seedling is the exception as it is triploid (ie. won't pollinate other apples and needs two separate apple trees nearby). We bought a couple of apple trees late last year from him and they've done extremely well. You have the option of different forms too - we've gone for a stepover and a minarette.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
