Argos "Current Selling Prices"

Went to look for item at Argos earlier and noticed the "current selling price" is valid until 9/11/2010. (ie. in about a week and half). With Christmas approaching I wondered if this meant this item would then go on sale - it is possible the price could go up after this date I guess. I did a quick google search on this and one thing I found was that Argos will "redress" their stock at this point, maybe because they have a surplus, and if they haven't shifted the surplus stock then it is likely the item will be reduced in price. I know this is not especially new but wondered if any moneysavers out there were aware or if they know anything with regard to this. Apologies if this elsewhere in a post/thread but I am new to this!

I noticed this on something I was looking at getting OH for xmas, end date was meant to be 29.10.10 so rushed out to get one as it was the next day but its still at the same reduced price now and date has changed to something of november.

Not sure what thats supposed to mean!! lol.

Just letting you know that item your looking at wont necessarily go up or down in price!

More often than not when i have looked the price until date does usually mean the price goes down (or back up if its on offer). There are occasions when the price hasnt changed, but i usually make a note of when the price is expected to change if there is something in particular i want then get it. Argos offers start on a wednesday. They have been doing the price until date thing for about a year if i remember right and there has only been a handful of times that ive noticed the price not change. They dont put prices higher than stated in the catalogue and the prices in the christmas book over-ride prices in the catalogue for the duration of the chrsitmas catalogue (until 24 dec). Hope that helps.
  • There were couple of posts lately about future Tesco promotions; double up clubcard vouchers promo in Nov/Dec and, speculation about a 3 for 2 offer which ran somewhere around the 7th Nov last year. Maybe Argos will try to compete with these and have promotions/price reductions from the 9th?....

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Thanks for replies folks. I should have pointed out that item I was after was currently not on offer and selling at its "normal" catalogue price. For those curious, the item was/is nothing exciting - a bathroom mirror - currently at £24.95 if I recall correctly! So I can hang on to the 10th and see what happens!
