Any recommendation

Hi

I have searched the web for lots of mortgages but it is mabe better to ask for the advice of an expert before we go to the Agents who sold our home for mortgage quotes.

We have worked out that we will have a LTV of 52.6% from what I gather we should get a good rate.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get some quotes from. My current mortgage is with Bank of Scotland and looking at there rates they not the best.

We are looking for 15 years length and hoping to try get a fixed one for 5 Years.

Kind Regards

  • Me again lol

i have been hunting on the tesco website for comparing mortgages and came across "First Direct" they seem to be offering a cracking deal. I have never heard of them personally as I have always used the big banks for them in the past.

    Q. Is daily interest better than annual interest, can it get worse?

Here is a link to the mortgage in question.

    sorry cannot post links :(

You have a great LTV and provided you have a clean/high credit score you should have the pick of the market.
I am with YBS and have a 5 year fixed offset mortgage and they have some good deals at the moment.
Look for a " whole of market mortgage broker" and not a tied one ( estate agent)
First direct are a big company and do some very good deals
This is a big decision and getting expert advice would be a good idea.
Someone to sit down and go over ALL your details and find the best deal to suit you.
  • lol I am going to estate agent one tomorrow, I now have a couple of prices to compare with them. I don't think that we will get one with them and the lass isn't going to be able to make it either so will not be committing to anything.

That first direct does look good only one bit though I do not like is this statement

"The Standard Variable Rate will vary over the term of the loan and is a variable rate set internally by first direct. The Standard Variable Rate does not track the Bank of England Base Rate."

Does this mean they set there own rates?

Also looking at HSBC that I found from Tesco Compare it is not that far of First direct but not looked too far into it yet..

edit: I have just cancelled my countrywide conveyancing after getting there costs through today.. And with a little help from comments on here, thanks guys (hopefully I will get my £70 back)
  • Been to see the adviser, they couldn't help me, First Direct will take too long to set up so looks like we will be going with Natwest, they seem to be aoffering a good deal and since the girl is with them and I with RBS hopefully it should go through quite quickly :)

The adviser did have Natwest deals but no the one Natwest have on there website..
