Join Ravelry if you haven't already! It also has groups you can join for people with your interests or in your area, so you can read lots of people's blogs and make friends both online and in real life.

I can second the recommendation for Ravelry. You will never need to buy another knitting pattern again, although you might spend a fortune on different yarns.

Third the recommendation for Ravelry! Great source for patterns.

Attic 24 is a fabulous crochet blog, she also gives very helpful tutorials with loads of photos to make it crystal clear

Suz blogs about home renovations - she has recently moved to a new house, and this has been the focus of her more recent posts - but also about crochet though you'll need to scroll back a way. I just love the colours she uses........
