OH is trying to get into photography.....bought the fancy pants camera etc etc etc ....so I hope he makes a go of it......:o

He 'agreed' to do a colleagues child's 5th birthday party the other week..........I was a tad surprised....the thought of him in a room with 30 unruly kids:eek: he he he.....and more than a few beers bought for him.......have to say.....photo's have turned out pretty good...some lovely 'family' photo's.......and other's capturing the day...pretty good......

though have to say...years ago........I got a lovely picture from the top of....mmmmm......I think it was one of the lothian hills in Scotland....with a crappy 'old' asp camera.....panamic photo........capturing some flowers at the top of the hill......the low lying cloud/fog etc and the landscape.........although what was missing was the smell:eek: ...the flies......and the local sheep..........lovely as they were...they did bloody stink!...and of course...the low lying cloud kept the flies low.......I was not impressed!

It depends on what you mean by "getting" into photography. If he's doing it commercially, then he will need a good camera with labour saving devices - after all - time is money. If he is just learning his trade, then he should get the simplest real camera he can find, and shoot anything that moves, and anything that doesn't.

    This photo
was shot by a camera which has manual focus, manual aperture, manual zoom, manual shutter speed, manual depth of field preview, and manual wind. The only thing that has batteries is the light meter.

If you can keep stuff focused with that, you can easily with an autofocus.

Bonus: the camera only cost £50 for an SLR.

    Problem: Film devloping is expensive.

    Wow

Every time you quote with a photo, it re-presents the photo!
